“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.”
“I must be a mermaid, Rango. I have no fear of depths and a great fear of shallow living.” Anais Nin
"It's fear of the unknown. The unknown is what it is. And to be frightened of it is what sends everybody scurrying around chasing dreams, illusions, wars, peace, love, hate, all that... it's all illusion. Unknown is what it is. Accept that it's unknown and it's plain sailing. Everything is unknown... then you're ahead of the game. That's what it is. Right?” John Lennon
Scorpio, fixed, (deep) water. This is the time for plunging into the depths of our desires and passion. Into the life force that transmutes any sense of melancholy and overcomes any resistance and/or fear.
This is a potent time to ask yourself, "What is it I feel truly passionate about?" and if you’re not already incorporating it into your life, setting an intention to change that. If you want more of it, do that!
My 19 y.o daughter whose life long passion has been dance, has been working for a multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate and has just made the courageous decision to “retire”, as her heart wasn’t in her performance. She decided that she was “selling her soul”, costuming up, making money from, and for, a company with whom she has conflicted values. She expressed to me, “if I need to make money, I’d rather cook, at least my heart is in that”.
As with the world so many of us are inhabiting, the dancer’s life can, more often than not, be a world of stifled creativity and authentic expression, and just another place of conformity.
I feel that her “costume" is an exaggerated representation of where so many of us are at; dressing up, putting on suits, uniforms, masks and often playing parts that our heart just isn't in. What if we were to strip away the mask or costume - who lies beneath?
When we say yes to what we don’t want, we take the space that could otherwise be filled with what we do want, so we need to be courageous, and learn to say no to mediocre, to that which isn’t fulfilling and anything that lacks inspiration.
“I am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger as reason. I am so thirsty for the marvellous that only the marvellous has power over me. Anything I can not transform into something marvellous, I let go. Reality doesn't impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls.” Anais Nin
“Living a meaningful life is not a popularity contest. If what you’re saying is always getting applause, you’re probably not yet doing the right stuff.” Marianne Williamson
Are you living a passionate and truly authentic life?
If not, what might that look like for you?
Now is the time to dream it into being.
“Produce your own dream. If you want to save Peru, go save Peru. It’s quite possible to do anything, but not if you put it on the leaders and the parking meters. Don’t expect Carter or Reagan or John Lennon or Yoko Ono or Bob Dylan or Jesus Christ to come and do it for you. You have to do it yourself.” John Lennon
Intention Activation for Scorpio New Moon
Find yourself a body of water, a lake, a pool, the ocean, a bath, or the shower if that's what's available to you.
Immerse yourself fully into the water, and feel it cleansing your energy field.
Washing away all that's no longer true for you.
Feel the healing of the water as it refreshes and replenishes your body, mind and spirit.
Feel the water on your skin. Allow the mind to drift.
As you've allowed yourself to fully relax, feel your heart opening, and bring to mind the vision for the fully passionate life you'd love to live.
Feel it in your Being and bathe in that energy.
As you rise again from the water, feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and renewed, you may like to imagine yourself as the Phoenix.
Tune into the fiery energy of Mars (traditional ruler of Scorpio) and feel the life force and passion rise within.
Resolve to remember and honour this passionate energy.
Remembering the body's water composition, you may now like to say a prayer of gratitude to the water, for the life it brings you.
Thank you for honouring yourself, and the spark within. May you share your love and passion for life, with all you meet.
